- ½ cup Cristal de Caña sugar
- 4 ripe pears, peeled and diced
- ¼ cup water
- 1 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon powder (optional)
Preparation
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the pears, sugar, water and ginger.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the pears soften and the mixture thickens, for about 25-30 minutes.
- Add the lemon juice and cinnamon (optional) and cook for a few more minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Serve the compote warm or cold, alone or with ice cream or yogurt.
