Ingredients
- 2 cups of Cristal de Caña sugar
- 1 cup of crystallized fruits
- 1 cup chopped almonds
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup black raisins
- 1 cup golden raisins
- 1 cup cherries
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- ½ cup orange juice
- 8 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon salt
Preparation
- Mix the coconut, raisins, crystallized fruits, cherries, and almonds in a cup of flour
- Whip the vegetable shortening with the sugar
- Add the vanilla, the remaining 2 cups of flour and the baking powder (alternating with the fire).
- Add the fruit coated in flour
- Add the whipped egg whites with salt until stiff
- Grease the baking pan and baking paper at 275ºF for 4 hours
