Ingredients
- Cristal de Caña sugar to taste
- 2 dried coconuts
- Ground cinnamon (optional)
Preparation
- Remove the flesh from the inside of the coconut.
- Grate it and reserve the shavings in a deep plate.
- Heat a frying pan over low heat, add the coconut shavings, and let them brown without burning.
- Remove the pan from the heat, sprinkle the shavings with sugar, and gently stir. If desired, you can add ground cinnamon.
- Serve hot. Note: This traditional Dominican dessert is delicious, practical, and inexpensive. According to tradition, when children asked their grandmothers or mothers what they were serving, they would jokingly reply: "Eat and be quiet."
