Coconut nougat

Ingredients
  • 1 pound Cristal de Caña sugar
  • 1 peeled and shredded coconut in slices
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
Preparation
  1. Boil the coconut with all the ingredients in a cup of water
  2. Remove from the heat when the mixture becomes a consistent dough, and all the water has been consumed
  3. Spread the dough (keeping a thickness of one inch) on an aluminum baking pan
  4. Let cool and cut into squares
