Natural sugar or chemical sweeteners? Problem solved!

You may have read or heard negative information about sugar consumption. Many websites and magazine articles present cane sugar as harmful. However, unlike chemical sweeteners, cane sugar is a 100% natural product.

Sweeteners do not come from the earth, but from laboratories. Here, they are chemically manufactured in order to be able to sweeten products with zero or minimum calories. Many sweeteners contain compounds such as sorbitol, mannitol and xylitol. According to the website, “these products, besides being used to sweeten with few calories, are also used to preserve food, usually in those dietary presentations, suitable for diabetics or sugar free”.

There is currently a lot of controversy surrounding sweeteners consumption, as it could have negative effects on the body in the long term. For this reason, consuming cane sugar in moderation, as part of a balanced diet, and exercising, is still the best alternative for you to sweeten your days and those of your family.

  • Sugar comes from food and natural products, whereas sweeteners are chemically manufactured products
  • Sugar sweetens and provides energy and calories, while sweeteners only offer the sweetening effect and provide half or less of the calories provided by sugar
  • Sugar is quickly absorbed by the body, serving as an energy source, while sweeteners are absorbed more slowly and do not provide energy
