  • Cristal de Caña sugar to taste
  • 2 dried coconuts
  • Ground cinnamon (optional)
Preparation
  1. Remove the flesh from the inside of the coconut.
  2. Grate it and reserve the shavings in a deep plate.
  3. Heat a frying pan over low heat, add the coconut shavings, and let them brown without burning.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat, sprinkle the shavings with sugar, and gently stir. If desired, you can add ground cinnamon.
  5. Serve hot. Note: This traditional Dominican dessert is delicious, practical, and inexpensive. According to tradition, when children asked their grandmothers or mothers what they were serving, they would jokingly reply: "Eat and be quiet."
